Charles Dancla's Etudes Brillantes Op. 73 are didactic works that represent the very best of the French school of violin playing. Similar in quality and purpose to Kreutzer's etudes, these twenty etudes promote growth in both right and left hand technique. Each etude focuses on a particular technical element, and mastery of all twenty goes a long way toward preparing the student for future concertos. Musically, these etudes are much more interesting than one might expect, and can be enjoyable to listen to as well as to play.
