Antonín Dvorák wrote String Quintet in E Flat Major, Op. 97 together with the String Quartet in F major during the summer holidays of 1893 in Spillville, making these works the products of Dvorák's sojourn in America. Like the other works from this period, the Quintet in E flat major is also influenced by American musical idioms, pentatonics and African-American folklore.
