Etling's Solo Time for Strings emphasizes individual skill and accomplishment to prepare students to be a solid participant in a string orchestra. Focus is put on reading and playing melodies - the method introduces Twinkle immediately at the beginning of Book 1 and progresses to Vivaldi by Book 5. Enjoyable and challenging solos are used to teach technique and illustrate theory throughout the series. While intended for use in a string orchestra, this method is also excellent for individual study.
