Lillo Salerno, a native Italian violinmaker, received his diplomas in violinmaking from Cremona and Mittenwald prior to working for several well-known restoration workshops. In 2005, he established his own shop in Pforzheim, Germany (Black Forest). Salerno is a master maker and also produces quality workshop violins, violas, and cellos patterned after Stradivari and Guarneri “del Gesus” that all use high-quality oil varnish.
