Preparing for Kreutzer, Volume 1 is a collection of intermediate-level etudes by Kayser, Dont, Mazas, etc., compiled by Harvey Whistler.  The studies are broken down into four main sections: etudes in first position, etudes in higher positions, trill etudes, and etudes in double-stops.  Each section has some short, supplementary exercises attached; for instance, before beginning the section on trilling, there is a brief trill review of what the player is assumed to know already.  There are also several warm-up” exercises intended for daily practice, addressing agility development and bowing technique.
