Christmas Melodies: Double Stop Solos and Duets is a musical celebration of the Christmas season! Each volume contains both duet and double stop solo arrangements of some of the most familiar and popular Christmas Carols that are either sung or played on instruments during the months of November and December throughout the world.

DOUBLE STOPS -- MAKING IT SIMPLE
Playing the double stop on a stringed, bowed instrument has plagued students and teachers alike for years. Not only are the fingering and bowing techniques difficult for students to grasp, but the pedagogical aspects of teaching double stops provide a daunting challenge for teachers as well.

In Christmas Melodies, Martha has developed a simple way to unravel the complexities of playing the double stop which will make life easier (traditional or Suzuki). Each carol in Christmas Melodies includes duets with the identical notes contained in the duet arrangement rewritten for one player as a double stop solo.

This duet - double stop solo combination allows students to hear what their double stops should sound like as they play the duet version first with teachers or fellow students. This hearing feature is especially helpful when initially learning the double stop solo arrangements.
