Yasuda, Martha - Folk Song Melodies For Cello Ensemble - Digital Download
Folk Song Melodies for Cello Ensemble is a loose transcription of the same titles for Violin Ensemble and Viola Ensemble. It is so gratifying to hear cellists play these same violin/viola multi-level pieces, with an appropriate “cello slant” to them!
There are three verses of difficulty for harmony parts in this book (easy, medium and hard) that can be played either separately or together as an ensemble. Thirteen of the folk songs chosen are from Suzuki Book 1, in addition to eight other popular favorites, such as "Camptown Races," "Danny Boy," or "Way Down upon the Swanee River" etc. The grand total is 21 pieces.
Harmony parts in verses 1 and 2 are intermediate, (Suzuki Book 3 or 4 level), while verse three is for Book 5 and up players. Teachers and students will enjoy the versatility of these multi-level arrangements.
